Tips for Hiring a Contractor

• Hire only licensed contractors - check at: http://verify.tn.gov/
• Check references and complaint/discipline history (Reg Boards, BBB, etc.)
• Get a written contract
• Make sure the contractor obtains a permit for code inspections
• Ask for proof of insurance; workers' comp is required if they have one (1) or more employee (WC Verification)
• Never pay cash; and do not pay the total amount before the work is complete
