Black Friday Deal Predictions - BBB News Center: "With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about Black Friday. The day-after-Thanksgiving event is one of the biggest shopping days of the year, with stores dramatically reducing prices of merchandise in hopes of staying in the black for the holiday season. In light of the economic downturn, what kinds of deals will we see this year? PCWorld offers some predictions.
Deals probably won’t be as good as two years ago, and analysts believe stores will wait until the very last minute to dramatically markdown items. This means we may not see the best sales on Black Friday or Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving).
This holiday season, shoppers can look forward to many deals on electronic items. Analysts believe HDTVs will remain a big ticket item this year. Shoppers are more likely to find bigger deals on larger models. If you’re buying a tv, you might as well buy a Blu-ray player to go with it; expect to score deals on these as well. Experts believe netbooks will not be as popular this year, but e-reader sales are likely to figure heavily in the Black Friday landscape, as well as smartphones.
PCWorld points out that most of the deals found in stores can also be found online. Skip the doorbuster madness, and shop from the comfort of your own home while you munch on Thanksgiving leftovers.
